| Mauricio Díaz Gallardo is "Sokio", a multitalented chilean musician. "Columbia" marks his debut in current electronic music landscape: this is a cosmopolitan album, conceptualized while living in Río de Janeiro, with special guests from all over Latinamerica. |

| "Columbia" grew slowly from 2004 to 2008. Its peculiar mixture of sound and vocals avoids clichés, introducing us to an unlimited dancing panorama, an invitation to a trip "avoiding melody and sustaining music as a token of bona fide and understanding", states Sokio. |

| Each guest here - whom Sokio met all thru this time - delivered their share of freshness and surprise to this work: Argenis Brito ("Sing Song Alone"), Carlos Cabezas ("El Pueblo"), Dadalú ("Así Tal Cual"), and Telefunka ("Arboles") left their imprints in English, Spanish and Portuguese. |

Sokio's tastes in music move from Ellen Allien to carioca funk and some in-fashion rock-disco style. Despite this varied range, Sokio states that his ear "is much more german than latin".

| "Sokio" es la identidad artística de Mauricio Díaz Gallardo, multifacético músico chileno que este año presenta su debut formal en la escena electrónica: "Columbia" (2008). Este álbum cosmopolita, que fue concebido durante su estadía en Río de Janeiro, nos sorprende con la colaboración de intérpretes de diversas partes de Latinoamérica. |

| Entre los años 2004 y 2008 "Columbia" comienza a tomar la forma que hoy lo identifica como un trabajo original. El particular sonido de mezclas y voces se aleja de la estructura formal para introducirnos a un mundo bailable sin fronteras. Un viaje donde es posible "evitar la melodía y sostener la música como un acto de entendimiento, de buena fe", afirma Sokio. |

| Cada colaborador fue una sorpresa, gente que el músico fue conociendo a través de los años y que dejaron rastros en inglés, portugués y español. Entre ellos destacan Argenis Brito ("Sing Song Alone"), Carlos Cabezas ("El Pueblo"), Dadalú ("Así Tal Cual") y Telefunka ("Arboles"). |

| Las influencias del álbum apuntan al gusto de Sokio por artistas como Ellen Allien, el funk carioca y cierto tipo de rock-disco que suena hoy. Pese a la amplia variedad de sonidos, el músico deja en claro el origen de su tendencia: "podría decir que mi oreja es mas alemana que latina". |
